Over 8000 joined the Pride March and over 50,000 enjoyed 2 days of entertainment at this years Rainbow Extravaganza. Thousands of people flocked to the two-day LGBT+ celebration which brought a colourful party atmosphere to Liverpool city centre over the weekend.
Festival organisers say an estimated 50k revellers joined the fun, with more than 8k people taking part in the 8 th annual Pride March alone. The biggest public march the city has seen.
YPAS joined the celebrations, with our GYRO Team leading the way in the march, following a dedicated Youth Space at YPAS Central afterwards for young people.
Chris Porter our Gyro Worker (LGBTQIA+) wanted to share the following message:
“ The LGBTQ+ team wants to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who came and made Liverpool Pride 2017 our best yet. We had record numbers come through the door. From all the YPAS staff who helped, Tracy who made our amazing cake and all the young people who marched with pride, it shows that when a community comes together special things can happen. Looking forward to next year already!”
