Liverpool’s world boxing champion Tony Bellew and Metro Mayor, Steve Rotheram attended the opening ceremony of the YPAS Plus Community Hub, the latest addition to the Liverpool CAMHS Partnership offer.
Speaking about the hub, Steve said: “This is a real coming together of local people, somewhere for young people to understand they’re not alone and offering the chance to talk to someone about how they’re feeling.”
Tony added: “There should be more places like this where young people can come and explain their situations; mental health can affect us all so it’s important people of all ages get the support they need, quickly.”
The hub will provide a range of services and links to health, education and social care supporting the mental health and emotional wellbeing needs of the community.Children, young people and their families will be able to access a broad range of innovative services delivered by the Liverpool CAMHS partnership.
Monique Collier, CEO at YPAS said: “I am delighted to be celebrating the opening our second YPAS Plus Community Mental Health Hub. Responding to the ever increasing need to provide mental health services in accessible venues that are closer to home; the North hub is located in the heart of the community; providing valuable, easy to access mental health services by a range of providers all under one roof. The mental health hubs are a valuable asset for Liverpool its surrounding communities and we are already in-undated with communities accessing and enquiring about services, many saying they wouldn’t have accessed if it wasn’t this close to home.”
Funded by NHS Liverpool Clinical Commissioning Group, this North Liverpool setting is the second of two new hubs recently acquired though local authority asset transfer.
Alongside YPAS’s established city centre location, the three Hubs bring voluntary and statutory agencies together to work collectively towards improving the mental health outcomes of Liverpool’s children, young peoples and families.
The community hubs will offer a safe, comfortable place for children and young people and families to drop-in and access a range of support and therapeutic services.
