GYRO Shortlisted for LCR Pride Award

We are so proud to announce that our LGBTQ+ Youth Provision GYRO has been shortlisted for an LCR Pride Award in the category of:

COMMUNITY GROUP OF THE YEAR

The LCR PRIDE AWARDS celebrate the brightest, bravest and best of the region’s LGBT+ community and our allies at the glittering inaugural LGBT+ awards ceremony. Over 600 nominations were received across 12 categories to find individuals, community groups or companies that are going that extra mile for the LGBT+ community.

Chris Porter, YPAS Team Lead and GYRO worker has said:

“We’re delighted with our nomination for the LCR Pride awards for ‘LGBT+ Community Group of the Year’. The LGBTQ+ team work hard to provide our core safe spaces which are GYRO and THE Action Youth as well as providing specialist 1 to 1 support for LGBTQ+ children and young people. Everything else that is done is on top of their job roles and they do LOADS of things working alongside the wider LGBTQ+ community and other organisations in Liverpool which is what makes GYRO so special.”

I worked with Emily. I enjoyed talking about what's going on in my life whilst it is being fun, it's never 'there's something wrong', it's always 'how do we help you' which I like. Emily is amazing, she's helped me so much and she's just a lovely person!!!

YPAS was the first organisation that took me in and also the quickest, Sonia helped me get through a very difficult stage in my life and has bettered me as a person. I feel better equipped to deal with situations in life and my mental health has improved overall because of it.

I felt progression and I found my strength and resilience through the sessions. I am proud of myself for staying strong and showing my commitment through the past months of my sessions. I also gained a handful of coping strategies and I maintained my balance by controlling my worries.
