Ready to Launch! Congratulations to our 2024 Trainee Associate Psychological Practitioner Graduates!

July 19, 2024

We are thrilled to celebrate the graduation of our latest cohort of Trainee Associate Psychological Practitioners (TAPPS) from the University Of Cental Lancashire!

These dedicated individuals embarked on their journeys in March 2023, and for the past 15 months, they have diligently worked alongside our Leads, Coordinators, and Practitioners. Through this experience, they gained the knowledge and skills necessary to become qualified Psychological Practitioners, ready to make a positive impact on the mental health field for children and young people.

Graduate Spotlights:

We asked some of our graduates about their experience this past year and their plans for the future.

Caitlin

Why did you decide to do this course?

I chose to study on the TAPP course because when I graduated with my psychology degree, I wanted a trainee role in psychology, working with people. When I saw the advertisement for a TAPP and realised I would be working for a charity organisation as well as continued studies I knew this was perfect for the next step in my career path.

What was the most rewarding or memorable aspect of your training?

Most rewarding would be to see the difference made for the young person and having weekly external supervision (super supportive and helpful)

If you could give your past self one piece of advice at the beginning of your training, what would it be?

Go for every opportunity that is offered.

What are you most excited about now you’ve finished your training?

My next step in reaching my goal is to be a therapist.

Why did you decide to do this course?

I decided to do the course to widen my knowledge and understanding of ways to support children, young people, and their families. I have been taught many ways that I can use therapeutic-informed approaches to support those I work with within my work.

What was the most rewarding or memorable aspect of your training?

The positive feedback and the therapeutic relationships I have built with young people and my colleagues.

If you could give your past self one piece of advice at the beginning of your training, what would it be?

I would tell myself that everything will work out the way it is meant to. Things may be difficult but everything will make sense in the end.

What are you most excited about now you’ve finished your training?

I am most excited to continue putting everything I have learned into place and looking forward to my next adventure to support young people’s mental health.

Why did you decide to do this course?

Having a genuine interest in mental health and wellbeing I wanted to make a positive difference to other people’s mental wellbeing.  To learn new skills and apply them in clinical practice. To work with clients to complete psychological assessments, formulations, and interventions to meet presenting needs.

What was the most rewarding or memorable aspect of your training?

When I felt confident in applying what I had been taught to clinical practice, knowing I had made a difference to a person’s mental health and wellbeing.

If you could give your past self, one piece of advice at the start of your training, what would it be?

Effort, Patience, and persistence.

What are you most excited about now you’ve finished your training?

I am most excited to continue learning new skills and making a difference positively in people’s lives, “making a difference for others makes the biggest difference in you”.

Why did you decide to do this course?

After completing an undergraduate and postgraduate degree, I wanted to expand my knowledge, skills, and experiences within the mental health field therefore decided to take part in this course. The course also sparked my interest as it allowed me to explore different therapeutic modalities.

What was the most rewarding or memorable aspect of your training?

Being able to learn a variety of different therapeutic modalities and applying them into practice, based on individual and family needs. It has been rewarding to see the impact of my work on young people and families and to see positive improvements in their relationships and lives.

If you could give your past self one piece of advice at the beginning of your training, what would it be?

To trust the process.

What are you most excited about now you’ve finished your training?

I’m most excited about developing my career further by taking part in different projects where I will be able to share and apply my skills.
